Comedian Richard Jeni, who shot himself to death in March, had a history of mental illness and was hospitalized late last year for suicidal depression, according to a coroner's report obtained Thursday.

Jeni, 49, died at a hospital after shooting himself in the head at his Hollywood home on March 10, authorities have said.

His girlfriend heard him talking to himself about a week earlier, saying "'just squeeze the trigger,'" according to a police report cited by the Los Angeles County coroner's office.

She was making breakfast downstairs when Jeni shot himself in the mouth with a .38-caliber Colt Detective Special handgun, according to the report.

Jeni, whose birth name was Richard John Colangelo, had not made any previous suicide attempts and left no note, the report said.

Five journalists and a 10th grade literature teacher have been jailed in Mali for reporting on a high school essay assignment about an imaginary presidential sex scandal.

The first to be arrested was Seydine Oumar Diarra, editor of Info-Matin, who was jailed last week after publishing The Mistress of the President, an article featuring an interview with the teacher who assigned the essay about the fictional scandal in order to explore issues of moral corruption.

Mr Diarra was questioned for more than three hours, then taken to the capital's central prison on charges of offending the head of state.

Gwinnett County District Attorney Danny Porter said that among the services offered was sex with Taylor and other women for an entire weekend for $10,000.

CHICAGO -- Decades after she and her husband arrived in the United States with just $500 in their pockets, a woman was awarded $184 million Monday in what could be one of the richest divorce verdicts in U.S. history.

At the center of the legal dispute is energy magnate Michael Polsky, 57, chief executive of Chicago-based Invenergy LLC. Standing on the other side of the courtroom was Maya Polsky, 55, a homemaker and art gallery owner who provided "love, support, advice and counsel" after the couple's 1975 marriage in the Soviet Union, according to court documents.

A Cook County judge ruled in October that Maya Polsky was entitled to half of the Chicago couple's cash and assets, with her share valued at $176 million. On Monday, Judge William Boyd amended his decision to include previously omitted assets which increased the value of her award to $184 million.

Maya Polsky's attorney, Howard Rosenfeld, said more than $170 million of the award is nontaxable cash.

On an episode of A&E's popular reality series "Flip This House," Atlanta businessman Sam Leccima sits in front of a run-down house and calls buying and selling real estate his passion.

Now authorities and legal filings claim that Leccima's true passion was a series of scams that included faking the home renovations shown on the cable TV show and claiming to have sold houses he never owned.

"This is, indeed, a con artist," said Sonya McGee, an Atlanta pharmaceutical representative who says Leccima took $4,000 from her in an investment scheme.

McGee and others say Leccima's episodes of "Flip This House," A&E's most popular show, were elaborate hoaxes. His friends and family were presented as potential home buyers and "sold" signs were slapped in front of unsold houses. They say the home repairs - the linchpin of the show - were actually quick or temporary patch jobs designed to look good on camera.

Jessica Cutler Washington Sex Scandal blogger

WASHINGTON Jessica Cutler, the former Senate aide whose online sex diary landed her a book deal and a Playboy photo spread but got her kicked off Capitol Hill, has filed for bankruptcy.

Cutler, a former aide to then-Sen. Mike DeWine, R-Ohio, created the "Washingtonienne" blog in 2004 and began posting racy details about her sex life with six men, including a Senate colleague and "a few generous older gentlemen" who she said paid many of her living expenses.

When the blog was discovered, Cutler was fired. She moved to New York, wrote a novel based on the scandal, posed naked and started a new Web site that describes herself as "a published author who jumps out of cakes for money."

Under the occupation heading of her Web site, it reads: "I'm freelancing."

Cutler has spent much of her time fending off a lawsuit by ex-boyfriend and fellow DeWine staffer Robert Steinbuch, who claims Cutler's blog publicly humiliated him. He is seeking more than $20 million in damages.
